The Social Ministry Committee

Inspired by the Gospel and Catholic Social Teaching, the mission of the Holy Ghost Social Ministry Committee is to assist and support our parish in living the Church's social mission.

It does so by:

• Creating awareness of the Church's social teachings and social mission.
• Serve in an advisory capacity to identify and address social ministry needs and opportunities in our parish and in the local community.
• Encouraging parishioners to become involved in social ministry opportunities by organizing and coordinating social ministry activities and events.
• Publicizing information on social ministry educational opportunities in order to encourage parishioners to grow in their understanding of the Church's social mission and teachings.
• Designating one Community Outreach Project per month to be supported through volunteer work and donations.
• Assisting parishioners in developing relationships/partnerships with the poor and marginalized and with area charitable organizations.
• Linking those in need to other available resources within the Diocese, Catholic Charities, and/or other local and national organizations.

The Holy Ghost Social Ministry Committee continually seeks to integrate the Church's social mission into the mission and life of our parish. Through the involvement of parishioners, the social mission of the Church is lived out and made present in the our parish, our community and our world.
